Dell Announces Intent to Acquire Wyse Technology

Dell announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, to significantly extend its desktop virtualization offerings. The addition of Wyse will expand Dell’s desktop virtualization capabilities and provide new solutions and services opportunities for the full range of Dell’s enterprise offerings.

In some environments, a virtual desktop allows enterprises to more efficiently and securely manage their users and end point devices. With this acquisition, Dell expands its enterprise solutions portfolio and offers customers an ever broadening array of tailored solutions to meet their needs.

“The total market for desktop virtualization solutions should continue to see strong growth globally, with the larger revenue and margin opportunities coming from the datacenter infrastructure, cloud and services offerings that are tied to thin client and desktop virtualization technology sales,” said Matt Eastwood, Group Vice President, Enterprise Platform Research, IDC. “Thin client and desktop virtualization solutions typically drive high attach rates to data center solutions, including servers, networking, storage and services. The end-to-end datacenter infrastructure stack for these solutions is expected to exceed $15 billion by 2015.”

The transaction was approved by the board of directors of each company and is expected to be accretive to Dell non-GAAP earnings in the second half of its Fiscal Year 2013. Additional terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction remains subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the second quarter of Dell’s FY13.

Honda India, highest sales of 11016 units in March 2012

New Delhi, April 1, 2012: Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) Ltd., leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, recorded its highest ever monthly sales in March 2012. The company sold 11,016 units in March 2012 as against 3,576 units sold during the corresponding month last year registering a growth of 208%.

The cumulative sales of the company during the Financial Year period April’11 – Mar’ 12 was 54,427 units as against 59,463 units sold in Apr’10 – Mar ’11. Owing to the Tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand, Honda Siel Cars India was going through production cut at its Greater Noida plant during the year 2011.

Hyundai, prices of all new Sonata Starts at Rs 18.52 Lakh

New Delhi, March 22, 2012: Hyundai Motor India Ltd. announced the price of the all new Sonata today, the manual transmission is priced at Rs 18,52,979 and the automatic transmission at Rs 20,61,272 both prices are ex-showroom Delhi. The all new Sonata was launched at the 11th Auto Expo in January this year. HMIL is India’s largest passenger car exporter and the second largest passenger car manufacturer.

New Delhi, March 30th, 2012: Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd (TKM) today initiated its Hybrid Craft Campaign for the students of Pathways World School at Noida. Targeted at school students in metros between the age group of 12 to 14, the Hybrid Craft Campaign is a unique and interactive way for the students to understand hybrid technology and its benefits to the environment.

Started as a pilot project at Canadian International School in Bangalore last year, the Hybrid Craft Project was very well received by the students and teachers alike. The campaign consists of a detailed program wherein students are sensitized about pollution and its ill effects. They are also introduced to the concept of Hybrid Technology and the ways in which it can be used to curtail the ill effects of pollution and also help conserve fuel.

Maruti Suzuki Sales in March 2012

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported its third consecutive monthly sales of over one lakh units in fiscal 2011-12. The company sold a total of 125,952 units in March 2012 reflecting a growth of 3.3 % over March 2011. This includes 13,228 units for exports, a growth of 14.7%. The company had sold a total of 121,952 units in March 2011.

The total sales in March 2012 are the highest ever monthly sales in the Company’s history. The previous high in total sales was in March 2011 at 121,952 units.

The domestic sales in March 2012 are also the highest ever monthly domestic sales in Company¿s history (Previous highest domestic sales in March 2011 at 110,424 units).

Tata Motors March 2012 sales at 100,414 nos.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in March 2012 were 100,414 vehicles, a growth of 20% over 83,363 vehicles sold in March 2011. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2012 were 95,047 nos., a 23% growth over 77,431 nos. sold in March last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal are at 906,768 nos. a growth of 13% over 803,339 nos. sold last year.

Commercial Vehicles
The company’s sales of commercial vehicles in March 2012 in the domestic market were 58,063 nos., highest ever in a month and a 17% growth compared to 49,753 vehicles sold in March last year. LCV sales were 36,091 nos., a growth of 37% over March last year. M&HCV sales stood at 21,972 nos., lower by 6%, over March last year.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 529,980 nos., highest ever in a year and a growth of 19% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are 322,971 nos., a growth of 27% over last year, while M&HCV sales stood at 207,009 nos., a growth of 8% over last year.

During the year, Tata Motors launched the Tata Divo Luxury Coach, the Tata Starbus Ultra, the Tata Magic IRIS and the Tata Ace Zip.

Passenger Vehicles
The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 38,399 nos. (36,984 Tata + 1,415 Fiat) in the domestic market in March 2012, higher by 30%, compared to 29,520 nos. (27,678 Tata + 1,842 Fiat) in March last year. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles for March 2012 are at 36,984 nos., highest ever in a month and a growth of 34%, over 27,678 vehicles sold in March 2011. Sales of the Tata Nano are 10,475 nos., highest ever in a month and higher by 20% over 8,707 nos., in March 2011. The Tata Indica range sales were 11,420 nos., higher by 65% over March last year. The Tata Indigo range recorded sales of 8,295 nos., higher by 15% over March last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range accounted for sales of 6,794 nos., highest ever in a month and higher by 40% over March last year.

Cumulative sales and distribution offtake of passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 329,805 nos. (313,710 Tata + 16,095 Fiat), against 319,580 nos. (298,514 Tata + 21,066 Fiat) last year, a growth of 3%. Cumulative sales of Tata passenger vehicles were 313,710 nos., highest ever in a year and a 5% increase compared to 298,514 nos., over last year. Cumulative sales of the Tata Nano are 74,527 nos., a 6% increase compared to 70,432 nos., last year. Cumulative sales of the Tata Indica range at 105,706 nos., are higher by 8%. Cumulative sales of the Tata Indigo family are 77,733 nos., lower by 12%. Cumulative sales of the Sumo/Safari/ Aria/ Venture range are 55,744 nos., higher by 32%.

During the fiscal, Tata Motors launched the Tata Sumo Gold, the Tata Indica Vista, the Tata Aria 4X2 and the Tata Nano 2012

Jaguar Land Rover sales in India, continued their upward trend since launch in June 2009. Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in India for this fiscal are at 2,288 nos., a 157% increase, compared to 891 nos., over last year.

During the fiscal, Jaguar Land Rover started assembly of the Land Rover Freelander 2 at the plant in Pune, India. Jaguar Land Rover expanded its range by introducing the Range Rover Evoque, the Jaguar XKR-S and the Jaguar 12 MY range.

Exports
The company’s sales from exports at 5,367 vehicles in March 2012, are lower by 10% compared to 5,932 vehicles in March last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 63,078 nos., are higher by 9%, over 58,044 nos., last year.
